Charles Health Systems Clinical Informatics employs a multidisciplinary structure and approach to facilitate the design, application and adoption of technology solutions that optimize safe patient care delivery and improve the health of our community.
POSITION Overview:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist RN position at St.
Charles Health System is part of a team supporting the delivery of quality, safe patient care through the successful use of technology.
The Clinical Informatics Specialist RN will support clinical staff roles throughout the care continuum.
The position will participate in EHR clinical content design, optimization/innovation, standardization and best practice improvements.
The Clinical Informatics Specialist RN will work with Information Systems and operations to devise solutions that meet reporting and analytical needs.
This position has delegated responsibility for problem solving, testing and collaborating with caregivers to develop solutions resulting in efficient and functional workflows.
The Clinical Informatics Specialist RN supports technology projects aligned with our organization's overall goal to transform healthcare.
This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Technology / EHR Adoption, Optimization and InnovationIdentify and support optimization and innovation opportunities for technology systems.
Support clinical content design, standardization and best practice workflows.
Promote improvements in technology usability and adoption.
Represent the system users/customers in project initiatives.
Support evaluation and mitigation of technology related safety issues.
Lead technology related improvement projects across multiple stakeholder groups.
Analytics & ReportingSupport the development, validation and analysis of reports.
Identify data issues and risks and provide higher level analysis and feedback.
Synthesize data, information and knowledge to clarify issues or problems.
Analyze multiple approaches/solutions and develop recommended solutions.
Promote solutions to complex problems and in-depth analysis and evaluation of multiple factors.
Quality & Practice ImprovementProvide support for quality initiatives and compliance through design, build and workflow optimization.
Support policy / procedure review and updates.
Governance StructuresParticipate and support informatics governance structures.
Support clear path for escalating important decisions.
Support IT & OperationsWork closely with IT and operational clinical departments across SCHS as needed to perform duties.
Facilitate formulation of technology solutions with operational input.
Training SupportWork collaboratively with SCHS education team to provide quality customer service.
Provide support and/or training for software (or hardware) technology products used by clinical caregivers.
Acts as a resource/consultant for defined populations.
Patient Focus - Across the ContinuumSupport ambulatory informatics and promote a seamless flow of information between acute and ambulatory environments.
Participate in activities that promote patient safety.
Communication / Change ManagementSupport/coordinate EHR communication and act as agents for change.
Provide EHR support for upgrades and when changes in system occur.

May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization as required or assigned.
EDUCATION Required:
Bachelor's degree in health-related field, or education as required by clinical licensure.
Preferred:
Master's degree in health-related field, business, informatics, or information technology.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATIONRequired:
RN Licensure for the state of Oregon; Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet SCHS driving requirements.
Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all SCHS worksites.
EXPERIENCERequired:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a clinical setting and/or informatics-related experience.
Experience in project management that leads to positive change management.
Needs to have understanding of clinical workflow and integration of technology to improve patient care.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
