The Director of Navigation Services Summary of Program Shepherd's House Ministries Low Barrier Services exists to support unhoused community members in Central Oregon by helping to identify and acquire the necessary documentation, resources, support, and self-sufficiency needed to procure and maintain housing.
Additionally, we help people connect with job training, employment opportunities, and assistance with mental/physical health and substance abuse needs.
This work is done through onsite case management and the additional support of resource providers and community partners throughout Central Oregon.
We operate two low barrier emergency shelters and two outreach programs that support people who are currently sleeping out throughout the region.
Summary of Position We take a team approach to the work we do here.
Although each staff member has certain responsibilities that he/she oversees, we all serve together and support one another so the work is accomplished.
The Peer Support Food Services Coordinator will work intimately with community partners, volunteers, and participants to procure, manage, produce, and distribute safe and healthy meals, while also working to create and promote a healthy working environment.
This includes receiving and implementing vision and direction from The Director of Navigation Services; supervising day-to-day operations in the food services space; keeping accurate records of food that is procured, meal counts, etc; supervising staff, volunteers, and participants supporting and overseeing food safety protocol in accordance with Deschutes County Health.
This includes diligent maintenance of equipment, food storage, and organization of supplies related to food service.
The Peer Support Food Services Coordinator will also assist The Director of Navigation Services in creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and healing environment for people to address physical, emotional, and mental needs.
They will perform his or her duties and responsibilities to care for the needs of our participants, to enhance fulfillment of our overall mission, to collaborate well with all in our facilities.

Specific Responsibilities/Tasks 1.
Responsible for the overall operation of The Lighthouse Navigation Center food services:
scheduling of volunteers/participants, procurement of food, preparation of meals, service of meals, and kitchen clean-up.
2.
Acquisition of donated and purchased food and other food service supplies.
3.
Maintain accurate records for purchased and donated items, meal counts and other statistical information as requested by the organization.
4.
Provide training, scheduling, supervision and preview of all on-site food service workers and volunteers.
5.
The Peer Support Food Services Coordinator will encourage and organize participants to partake in food service responsibilities and activities, with the goals of:
a.
Supporting case management of relevant individuals.
b.
Mentoring individuals in personal and career growth.
c.
Providing healthy personal influence and emotional support.
d.
Providing non-judgmental support and motivation to explore life change.
6.
Work to ensure compliance with all federal, state, county, and city health department codes and standards regarding the food prep, service, and storage areas.
a.
This includes but is not limited to:
Daily temp readings and accordingly logged; Cleaning and sanitizing in a manner and of a frequency that meets all applicable regulatory standards and maintains maximum effectiveness of kitchen operations.
7.
Maintain records of inspections and report all findings to The Director of Navigation Services.
8.
In conjunction with The Director of Navigation Services, provide food service training opportunities for program participants.
9.
Responsible for the management of all record keeping:
daily temperatures, health forms, meal counts, and monthly Neighbor Impact statistics.
10.
Monitor and reorder non-food items connected with the kitchen and food services including cleaners, trash bags, mops, etc.
11.
Please note:
While we are under construction we are utilizing a third party for all food service needs; dinners are received prepared and lunches are to be assembled in-house as is a continental breakfast bar.
This requires daily pick up of aforementioned items.
12.
Maintain and clean to professional standards all equipment (including refrigerators, freezers, warmers, etc.
) used during food service regulation.
13.
Storage (including refrigeration) of all food supplies (including leftovers) used during food service.
14.
Daily diligent organization and storage of all non-comestible supplies, service ware, utensils, etc.
used during food service.

This includes diligent maintenance of equipment, food storage, and organization of supplies related to food service.
15.
Assist with coordination of special events including facilities and food.
16.
Food handlers card and driver's license required.
