0 Bend, OR Bend, OR Full-time Full-time $18 - $21 an hour $18 - $21 an hour SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Services (DOES) and each Coordinator, each Shelter Staff/Monitor will work as part of a team of paid staff, and also volunteers.
The team will see to the needs of Shelter guests, provide a safe and secure shelter facility, and work with participating churches, volunteers, and other community partners to operate the shelter as a safe and healing environment.
MISSION We seek to protect lives threatened by harmful conditions of unsheltered life, including weather, exposure to dangerous human activity and lack of basic human needs such as hygiene.
We also seek to create relationships of healing and grace that inspire the unsheltered and needy to transform their lives, and thereby create a threshold to life-long and eternal habilitation.
We seek to do this with a broad range of partners from the City of Redmond and the surrounding community.
These partners include host and other local churches, local government, public and private agencies, volunteers, and other individual participants.
We seek to build alliances with such partners in order to serve the unsheltered and needy of Redmond and Central Oregon.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND GOALS Specifically, the Staff/Monitor will be responsible for and perform the following:
1.
Prior to opening of the Shelter each night (prior to 6PM):
(a) inform the Coordinator of availability for scheduled shift (c) arrive at the Navigation Center, set up monitor station, guest sleeping stations, and other features of the Shelter, in accordance with Shelter procedures, practices and policies; ensure that needed supplies are available and in adequate supply (d) prepare for meal service as appropriate to the facility (e) prepare the Shelter check-in stations, including Nightly Sign-In and First Stay Forms to be used at check-in; ensure that all signage is properly posted and that sanitizers and COVID PPE are available and in adequate supply (f) ensure that proper cleaning and sanitizing has occurred, especially for bathrooms and sleeping pads since last used (g) cooperate with volunteers and host representatives as needed (h) read and know the Operating Procedures of the Shelter.

Once the Shelter is open:
(a) perform intake and guide guests to settle into their sleeping station (b) participate in meal service as assigned or as needed, following all COVID safety practices (c) at all times, monitor for guest safety, facility security, and cooperation, including COVID safety practices; also, coordinate with other staff to ensure continuous monitoring (d) engage with guests to fulfill the Mission Statement above, including provision of warm clothing and service referrals where warranted (e) no later than 10PM, turn down lights, lock external doors and maintain the Shelter as a safe and quiet sleeping area; at any time between 10PM and 7AM, when not actively on duty, each staff member is free to leave, conduct personal business, sleep or otherwise rest, as long as no break activity creates safety or health problems upon resumption of duty.
3.
Closing the Shelter:
(a) Guests:
awaken guests at 6AM lights on, and guide them toward departure, including neat stowage of personal items left behind; distribute morning takeaway food bags; ensure that departing guests and their vehicles clear the property.
(b) Service data/Nightly log:
preserve Nightly Sign-ins and First Stays; report issues of guest conduct, police or emergency activity, medical problems or other significant issues; such reports should be logged and also reported to DOES.
(c) Facility:
ensure the facility is in orderly and acceptable state pursuant to the wishes of the host church, and the needs of shelter operations; check guests' sleeping stations for compliance with health and safety guidelines, including COVID requirements; lock and secure the facility; police the property for refuse that needs disposal.
(d) Supplies:
evaluate the adequacy of supplies for the next night's operation, and replenish as needed.
