Summary:
The Emergency Shelter Site Manager oversees the day -to-day operations of our Emergency Shelter facility.
This critical role ensures the safety, security, and well being of shelter occupants while maintaining efficient operations.
At the same time, the SM is there to enforce the rules and directives laid out in the handbook/contract signed by each resident.
The SM collaborates with staff, volunteers, and external partners to provide a supportive environment for the men and women participating in the homelessness to permanent housing program.
Responsibilities:
Daily Check-Ins:
-Conduct daily check-ins with shelter occupants to assess their needs, address concedrns, and prdovide support.
-Maintain accurate records of sheltrer occupancy, arrivals, and departures.
-Coordinate with case managers to track individual progress and address any issues.
Security and Safety:
- Impliment security protocols to ensure the safety of shelter occupants, staff, and volunteers.
-Monitor access points, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies promptly.
- Collaborate with local alw enforcement and emergency services as needed.
Facility Management:
-Ovesee the physical facility, including maintainence, cleanliness, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with with health and safety regulations.
- Manage utilities, including coordinating payments, and addressing any issues.
Software Navigation:
-Utilize software systems for record-keeping, reporting, and communication.
-Proficiently navigate databases, spreadsheets, and communication tools.
- Train staff and volunteers on software usage as necessary.
Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to emergency shelter management.
- Represent the shelter in a professional and compassionate manner.
Qualifications:
Security:
Experience in security preffered.
Experience:
Previous experience in shelter management, social services, or related fields preffered.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Problem Solving:
Ability to handle challenging situations and make sound decisions.
Software Proficiency:
Comfortable using software tools for data management and communication.
Experience with HMIS preffered.
Availability:
Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Valid Driver's License:
Required.
COMPENSATION:
Starting wage:
$20 - $25 per hour, commensurate with experience.
On-Site housing:
The shelter provides an on-site house for rent at $1200 per month plus utilities.
This is a new house (2022), two bedroom with one of the bedrooms used to house security equipment.
