Launched in early 2023, this grant-funded program is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to lead its strategic and programmatic efforts.
Following last year's Trans Health Equity Needs Assessment, Gender Hive is poised to increase its engagement with both community members and healthcare/public health organizations, as it develops its strategic plan and implements programs to increase peer support, resource navigation, and provider competency.
This position requires a high level of attention to detail as well as strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the health-related needs of transgender and non-binary populations, knowledgeable about Central Oregon's healthcare landscape and socio-political dynamics, and skilled at seeking and reporting on grant funding.
Because this individual will be responsible for facilitating meetings and trainings as well as representing the organization with community organizations and the media, they should also be a competent and comfortable public speaker.
The person who fills this role will have the opportunity to help shape the future of gender-affirming healthcare and social support in Central Oregon, in collaboration with community and public health partners.
Because this is a hybrid role that includes in-person events and relationship-building, the Program Director is expected to reside within Central Oregon (Crook, Deschutes, or Jefferson County, or Warm Springs).
Responsibilities ADMINISTRATIVE:
Serve as the program point person.
Develop and manage Gender Hive's Advisory Council.
Oversee project timelines and grant deliverables.
Provide regular updates to the COHQA board and executive director.
Create and implement an annual development plan in partnership with COHQA's executive director with the goal to raise at least $100,000 in operational funds within the first year through a combination of seeking public and private grants, sponsorships, and individual donations.
Manage budget and program expenses in partnership with COHQA's executive irector and accounting staff.
Manage the work of Gender Hive contractors and lead regular team meetings.
STRATEGIC PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION:
Lead organizational strategic planning process in partnership with hired consultants, staff, and community members.
Develop and implement a program plan to align with organizational goals and grant deliverables.
Develop and implement an evaluation plan to measure program progress and outcomes.
Coordinate community education and professional development events, including a conference for healthcare providers.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS:
Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations to address social determinants of health for the LGBTQIA
community.
Establish partnerships with Central Oregon healthcare and public health organizations to ensure inclusion of LGBTQIA
health needs in assessment and planning.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings including the Central Oregon Trans Health Coalition.
Represent Gender Hive on community committees and at community events.
Serve as the public face of Gender Hive, including participating in media interviews and speaking at public events.
Recruit community members with lived experience to serve on Gender Hive's Advisory Council and community meetings.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings of the Central Oregon Trans Health Coalition (COTHC) which consists of healthcare providers, social service providers, and other advocates for trans health equity.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION:
Support Gender Hive staff in compiling resources for healthcare professionals, Trans community members and parents of Transgender youth.
Support Gender Hive staff in training healthcare professionals.
Identify professional development opportunities for Gender Hive staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT This is a hybrid role that includes a mix of in person and remote work.
Some travel by personal motor vehicle within Central Oregon is required.
QUALIFICATIONS Required At least 5 years of experience working full-time in a highly responsible position with demonstrated decision making and autonomous work.
Experience leading people and/or projects.
Experience working, and developing relationships of trust, with transgender and non-binary communities.
Familiarity with health disparities and barriers to accessing care for transgender and non-binary communities.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with software such as Google Drive and Microsoft-based software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Teams.
Experience facilitating both in-person and remote meetings.
Demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice.
Preferred Education in a field related to healthcare or organizational leadership (this could include advanced degrees, certifications, or other continuing education/professional development) Lived experience navigating gender-affirming healthcare.
Proficiency in Spanish.
Experience developing and delivering health education.
Proven fundraising experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT This is a hybrid role that includes a mix of in person and remote work.
Some travel by personal motor vehicle within Central Oregon is required.
Physical requirements include stooping and bending, sitting and standing for long periods of time, repetitive motions such as typing, and carrying up to 20 lbs.
