Job Description

Summary: The Groundkeeper is responsible for working in a team environment to ensure the overall upkeep and eye appeal of the Sunriver Resort grounds. S/he will use a variety of tools, machines and other necessary materials to provide maintenance and landscaping to the grounds. The Groundskeeper will assist with maintaining the AAA Four Diamond standards.

The Groundskeeper shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Sunriver Resort Culture as well as promoting Sunriver Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Early morning pressure washing on Sunriver Resort grounds.
Backpack blowing.
5 am start time.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Mows and edges laws, using power mowers and edgers.
Operates powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, roto-tillers, brush chippers, lift trucks, trenching equipment sod cutters and pruning saws
Shovels snow from walkways, driveways, and parking lots. Also spreads salt or deice in those areas
Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, wedding and removing thatch
Trims and edges around flower beds, walk ways and walls
Uses hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge and brunch trimmers and axes
Prunes and trims trees, shrubs and hedges, using shears, pruners or chain saws
Gathers and removes litter
Maintains and repairs grounds tools and equipment
Mixes and sprays fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides onto grass, shrubs and trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders
Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters and other ground features
Performs spa checker duties as necessary
Irrigates plants/flowers
Assists with laying sod
Re-sods and/or repairs lawn
Assists with general installation and repairs of irrigations systems
Provides general gardening duties
Contacts appropriate party if when a guest problem is reported
Provides general resort information for guests
Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of Sunriver Resort as s/he may come in contact with guests during their daily duties
Resolves guest problems and is empowered to act in absence of manager
Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special events
Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
Up sells other resort services and amenities to guests
Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude
Communicates all pertinent information to the Grounds team
Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor.
Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.
Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Sunriver Resort dress code standards.
Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior landscaping/grounds experience preferred
Prior experience with powered landscaping machines preferred
Prior hospitality experience preferred
At least one year customer service experience preferred
Required Qualifications
JOB REQUIRMENTS:
Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must have a valid Oregon Driver's license and meet company driving standards
Must have basic math skills
Must be able to work with power operated landscaping equipment
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (rain, sleet, ice, snow and heat)
Must be able to work well under pressure
Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
Must have excellent listening skills
Must possesses excellent communication skills
Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
Must always ensure a teamwork environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates
Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, cold & heat);
Must be able to stand & walk throughout the day, including on uneven surfaces;
Must be able to repetitively lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs;
Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel & twist on an frequent basis, often for prolonged periods;
Must be able to climb ladders and climb into and out of mobile equipment on a frequent basis;
Must be able to perform simple grasping, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
